Together — Growing in Mind, Body and Spirit
Welcome to Coulsdon Church of England Primary School, a friendly and inclusive Church of England school located on Bradmore Green in Old Coulsdon, Surrey. Rooted in Christian values, our school is committed to helping every child grow academically, emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually.
We are a Voluntary Aided Primary School educating pupils aged 4 to 11, with up to 210 children on roll. First founded in 1834, our long history is built on strong community partnerships and a supportive learning environment where every child is valued as an individual.
Our broad, balanced and creative curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all learners and to help them leave us feeling confident and ready for the next stage of their education. We work hard to make sure our learning environment and teaching approaches support children with diverse backgrounds and needs. (coulsdoncofe.co.uk)
Our Christian Ethos
As a Church of England school, our Christian character is at the heart of everything we do. We aim to live out our school motto “Together – growing in mind, body and spirit” by creating a caring community where respect, compassion and integrity are celebrated.
Our Religious Education programme follows the Diocese of Southwark’s syllabus, helping pupils learn about Christianity and a range of world faiths. RE is central to school life and supports spiritual development, thoughtful reflection and ethical awareness.
Our Environment & Community
Located in the heart of Old Coulsdon, we benefit from a close-knit community atmosphere and strong links with families, the local church and neighbourhood groups. We also have an active Parent Teacher Association, Friends of Coulsdon C of E, which organises community-building events throughout the year — from summer BBQs and fireworks displays to quiz nights and school fairs.
Our Staff & Learning Approach
Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff strive to foster enthusiasm for learning through creative, engaging lessons. We encourage curiosity, resilience and confidence, ensuring children have opportunities to explore ideas, ask questions and express themselves — both inside and outside the classroom.
We also work closely with families to support each child’s growth and wellbeing, including specialist support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) tailored to their strengths and needs.
Ofsted & School Life
The most recent Ofsted inspection highlights pupils’ positive attitudes, respectful behaviour, supportive relationships and a nurturing culture focused on personal development and wellbeing. Leaders are ambitious for the school and are continually developing how the curriculum meets children’s needs.
We also offer breakfast and after-school clubs, a range of school clubs and a welcoming environment where children feel safe, respected and ready to learn.
