What Do We Learn in Year 3?

Year 3 is all about adventure, discovery, and hands-on learning! Here’s a glimpse of the thrilling topics we explore throughout the year:

Stone Age Savages

We kick off the Autumn Term by travelling back in time! Children discover how Stone Age people communicated using cave art, even getting creative themselves by painting under tables to replicate the experience. We also explore the dramatic encounters between the Romans and Celts—and yes, the Celts mostly fought in the nude! History has never been this lively.

Earthly Eruptions

Spring term brings us face-to-face with the forces of nature. We dive deep into the Earth’s layers, tectonic plates, and volcanic eruptions. At the Natural History Museum, children take part in an interactive workshop where they create earthquakes and pour lava—learning whether they have what it takes to save a town from disaster!

Radical Romans

In the Summer Term, we become part of the Roman army! During a full-day, school-based workshop, children train as Roman soldiers, learning how to march in formation and discover the secrets of Roman life. Prepare for action-packed learning!

 Extra-Curricular Adventures

Year 3 isn’t just about the classroom—there are plenty of opportunities to explore new talents and hobbies, including:

  • Cross Country – race to the finish line!

  • Choir – sing your heart out.

  • Spanish – ¡Hola! Learn a new language.

  • Gymnastics – tumble, flip, and grow stronger.

  • Chess – strategy and critical thinking.

  • Coding – build games and bring ideas to life.
