Year 2
Welcome to Year 2 at Coulsdon Church of England Primary School
Year 2 is an exciting and important year at Coulsdon C of E, where children build on their learning from Key Stage 1 and develop greater independence, confidence and resilience as learners. We encourage children to take pride in their work, enjoy challenge and continue to develop a love of learning.
Our Year 2 Class
Class Teacher: Mrs Bonnick
Teaching Assistants:
-
Mrs Jackson (mornings)
-
Mrs Deller (afternoons)
-
Mrs Atkinson (afternoons)
Our Year 2 team works closely together to support all children academically, socially and emotionally throughout the year.
Learning in Year 2
Some of our learning in Year 2 is topic-based, allowing children to make meaningful links across subjects and deepen their understanding.
Key topics include:
-
London, with a focus on the Great Fire of London
-
Significant People, including Guy Fawkes, Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale
-
Australia
During the Spring term, children take part in a drama workshop that brings learning about the Great Fire of London to life, helping them explore historical events in an engaging and memorable way.
Outdoor Learning and Experiences
In the Summer term, we begin our Habitats topic, where children explore different habitats within woodland environments. As part of this learning, children take part in pond dipping and mini-beast hunting, providing valuable hands-on experiences and opportunities to learn about the natural world.
